To do it properly you will need to remove the knock sensor on the RHS of the block under the exhaust manifold, but it's hard to get to.

I just remove the thermostat and stick a hose in the bottom hose where it comes out of the engine and run it flat out until the water comes out clear at the top.

So the fat hose down the bottom of the radiator, take that off and stick the water hose in where it came from? and the water will come out of where i removed the thermo?

Do i leave everything else connected?

before removing the old radiator maybe run some of the cooling system flush additive through it for 30 mins at operating temp (or whatever the directions on the bottle say), this'll loosen up alot of crap in the engine and as you're replacing the radiator it doesn't matter if it gets clogged up, it'll do a better job than just using a garden hose with a small amount of pressure.

then flush the block out as described above before fitting the new rad.

the propper way to do it is to get a piece of pipe that fits into you hose or onto the flange, wit a cap on one end(pvc piping will do). put a garden hose connector on the capped end and a compressor hose connector half way up the pipe, then connect it to your cooling system at the bottom, turn your water on full blast til it flows out the top flange/hose then connect the compressor hose. the hose will use the water and pressurised air to dislodge any gunk and crap outa it. will also work on the radiator. used it before and couldnt believe tha amount of shit that came out

EDIT: make sure your heater is turned on at the same time as gunk can build up in there to. here is a professional tool but you get the idea

Drop the heater hoses at the motor and do it separate.
If the engine and heater are gunked up it may take several flush attempts.
I usually do one with straight water, assemble and run it with water and flushing agent, drop and flush with hose again.
