    Default Broken stud stuck

Well, I don't know how, but one of the studs that holds my extractor in has broken off, it is the one on the front left extractor down the bottom. I have taken the extractor and everything out and tried to drill it out with an easy out, but it just polished the surface of the broken stud, 'cos it is high tensile. I can't just grab it with pliers cos it is broken below the surface, me and my old man are both really stuck on this and have no idea what to do. any help would be appreciated, cheers guys

If it's high tensile (I cant see why it would be) you may need to invest in a cobalt drill bit to make a hole in it so you can use the easy out.

Or you can buy 'left twist' bits that drill in the reverse direction. If they grab, they will spin out the broken stud.
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

yeah it was a left twist bit, but it just wouldn't drill into it at all, just polished it haha

I get them out by welding a nut onto the end of the stud and then undoing it. Easy to do with a MIG.

Did you have the drill going the correct direction. It won't drill if its going backwards.

Use a drill with a reversable chuck if you are reverse drilling - most chucks cant hold drill bits spinning the wrong way for very long.

As others have said, drill it and ez-out it, or just drill the old stud out and tap a new thread or recoil/helicoil the hole (if you make a mess of it)
