Default Vr calais v6 always replacing coils

    Hi guys!
I’m having constant dramas with my coil pack. I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I drive a ’94 VR Calais V6 auto. About 3 months ago it started running like a pig. Rough idle, coughing, cutting out on freeways then starting up again. I replaced the crank angle sensor and all was well. About 3 weeks later it started doing it again. I checked and it had no spark on one of the coil packs so I replaced that. Good for another month then happened again. Same coil so I replaced it again (the one closest to air box.) Lasted about a month and now its happened again. This time she wont even start. Same coil has no spark, middle one fine and far left one sparks but only just (very weak).
Has anyone had this happen to them and what was required to fix the problem? One guy says the modulator under the coil pack is no good. Another says it’s the computer. Another says the alternator is over charging. Another says change the regulator on the alternator. All this advice and none of them drive a bloody Holden!!!
If anyone knows what I’m going on about I’d really like to hear from them
    THANKS HEAPS!!!

Ive seen a couple of the cheaper aftermarket ignition coils fail after just 3 months or so. Ive also seen cheap aftermarket crank angle sensors and aftermarket throttle position sensors fail from new, or fail within a very short time. These "so-called" cheaper parts usually end up costing people more in the long run,(especially if the person cant fit the parts themselves and has to pay someone), because they dont last anywhere near as long as the genuine parts do. This is why we pay more for genuine parts . I know of a couple of VR's and VS's that still have their original coils, these models are now going on 18 years old, ( shows how long most genuine parts will/should last). You can tell original genuine coils as they have the cylinder number marked on them in white. New genuine coils dont have the cylinder numbers marked on them..

Bought them from Repco at about $45 each. Sounds like genuine is the way 2 go then. I'll give that a try and see how I go. Thanks Dudes!!!
