Hey guys, was wondering what opinions are on this 4 point roll bar for a VG/VR/VS Ute.
Firstly, would it make much of a difference in a crash or rollover or would it cause further problems?
What are the odds of getting an engineer cert / mod plate for something like this. All it needs (according to seller) is the 19mm roll bar padding.
Am interested to see what everyone thinks as I have not seen many of these around (could be a reason to that)
Thanks guys
"VG VP VR VS Ute In cab rollover bar, 4 point. Mounts to parcel tray and seat belt mounts. Clears all trim panels and interior light, B pillar trims require holes. Made from 40mm roll cage mild steel, 10mm mounting plates and backing plates. Stainless bolts, nuts and washers"
Unless you are racing the ute... you really shouldnt need it. fat change you'll roll your car on the road. (not saying you wont)
but a street driven car you really don't need a 'roll cage/bar' . In my eyes..
You can get a legal roll cage for a sedan I do believe.. so possibly.. you could get it for your ute
It might stiffen the chassis a bit, emphasis on might. But your car is already designed to survive a roll-over. Your A and B pillars, I believe, are designed to support the roof in the event of a roll-over, enough to not kill the driver. So unless you are looking to nail a 10 roll, roll-over, I wouldn't bother.

Not planning on rolling any vehicle any time soon but the way I see it is that you can never have too much safety gear. If the price is right and if I can get confirmation that it may be beneficial (def not detrimental) in an accident then I may be interested.
You don't have to be racing to be hit by another vehicle and roll. Cheers for the info though, i see where you guys are coming from
It differs from state to state. From what i know is NSW, it must be bolt in (not welded), must be of a certain thickness relative to the vehicle weight, must be padded, also engineered and also cant hamper entry or exit to the car (so basically no side intrusion bar on the road - yet this is needed for a CAMS legal cage).
I had to jump thru quite a few hoops to get the cage in my datsun 1200 coupe engineered. Ended up getting it passed though... wasnt cheap.
Hope this helps.
"...Mounts to parcel tray and seat belt mounts. - Not legal. Seat belts are for seatbelts only! They are rated for the driver and not the vehicle.
"...Made from 40mm roll cage mild steel - That is the diameter of the pipe, not the gauge and strength of the material
"...Stainless bolts, nuts and washers - That means nothing. You require high tensile bolts and nuts...
I dont mean to be rude but when you buy a cage, its to protect yourself. This guy that is trying to sell this has no idea! Another things is that its not ADR approved. So it wont be able to engineered, but being in Queensland, you may get lucky. Having this will provide next to no additional protection nor will it help in stiffening up the chassis.
