just wondering if a faulty vs coolant temp sensor is a common fault ? pulled out of driveway last night got down the road and engine temp peaking to hot and started beeping and stuff so i pulled over popped the bonnet undid radiator cap wasnt hot check top and bottom hose they werent hot... put cap back on and drop away again and it was fine for the rest of the night ?
Fairly common problem. It's just age. Not that hard to replace. Nor is it an expensive part.
Welcome to the internet where people have opinions that you might not like
There's 2 sensors on the vs, one for the gauge, the other is for the ecu
It'll be the single wired sensor.
where is it located ?

As Pete posted,
Gauge sensor is below the thermostat housing on the front
Ecu sensor is at the back of the thermostat housing
Sorry no it is the shiny one so I would say the side of the thermostat housing lol.
I know because I put it in and took pic.

Yes correction, meant below the hose connector on the thermostat housing
As u elegantly put it, the side![]()
where is the other one cant seem to find it ? i bought a coolant temp sensor and its fairly bulky sensor
Did you get the Sensor or the Sender? I think they were referring to the Sender and not the sensor. The Sender is the one with a single wire coming off it in the Thermo stat housing.
If it's not a Symptom its not relevant, and if its not relevant I don't care!
