Just wait till you have everything. Why do it twice? Also did you make sure it was from a VR/VS?

If you use the L3 cluster everything will work except for the LCD's

I had mine running for 8 months like that before I got the L3 loom

so here it is. ive put the lvl 3 in my car without the lvl 3 odo plug spliced in. thats ok cos all the gauges worked in my tests. the only thing that hasnt worked is the cruise control. ive been told that its because the dash hasnt got the odo connected. is this true or is it something else entirely? also just wandering if anyone knew if anything else in the vr used a 20 pin plug/harness? im a bit impatient as ppl can tell and id like to get the odo working before the weekend
    cheers, ben

You need the corresponding trip computer "trip control box" to run your cruise control

I went without mine the whole 6 months I was on the L3 cluster with the old loom, was such a shock to have it running again

I have cruise and it seemed to work without the trip computer working (connected), as I am sure it goes by the speedo (speed sensor).

Why do people always do the Lv3 cluster swap? Having more electronics in your car is just another thing to fk up...

Cause it looks soo pretty. Has lot's of information. It's a little different to say putting in electric windows in a car. The dash does most of it and it's not hard to send it off to the dash expert to get it like new. The ecu already has the output for the fuel readings.

westie, thats your oppinion. so ill let u have that. but if you think i was gonna fork our over 50 bucks for a lil fkn cog to fix my old lvl 2 dash ur outa ya mind when i got the lvl 3 for 50 with postage. u dont like it and that is perfectly ok. but in my opinion i like it and thats all there is to it. its my choice and my desicion. so dont come in here all high and mighty. and when you understand electronics more than mechanical its easier.
