When ever I do the Crank Angle Sensor I always try to do the balancer as well if it looks pretty old. Could even through on a Powerbond balancer they work much better then factory.

i have to change my cramk angle sensor but on the balancer one of the holes has no thread for the puller so i had to put it in to the mechanic for them to sort out,
they know how to make money coz its costing round bout $100 and thats me supplying the sensor, ($40) ebay.
it would only take under an hour to do.

Have you considered all the costs in running a workshop?

Mechanics have to eat too you know.

I would pay $100 in labour to never have to touch another harmonic balancer!!!

Did you even consider a slightly bigger bolt for that hole?

Kaino, 100 bucks is more than fair. considering its not an easy job to do. count yourself lucky as most mechanics will charge upto 100 an hour in labour. and that would be at least an hours work, maybe more when you think about it
they have to take everything out thats in front of it, then sort out that dodgie hole and then do everything in reverse. so count yourself lucky

edit: whoops, sorry chargd, i need to redirect this comment as i just realised that even though u r the OP, you didnot make the comment im reffering to. lol my bad

When I did mine I never had to remove the radiator or the fan :P
With the right tools the job is easy.

The CAM angle sensor is located just above the water pump pulley in the timing case. It is held in by a 10mm bolt. You may have to get some light to see it.
If it's not a Symptom its not relevant, and if its not relevant I don't care!

Its a half an hour job at the most, and its a piece of piss to do.

It's amazing how the original post clearly states that he is after the LOCATION of the CAM angle sensor. Yet 1 person put the image of a Crank Angle sensor and nearly all of you have gone the completely wrong direction to what the OP wanted. Why did you do this? Because you're all Idiots!

I am sure the OP has found it by now .. for awhile I did not know where it was until I unplugged it by mistake thinking it was the CAS hehe, I felt rather stupid too.

Anyway my response was only to aussie4life11.

lol james. all i was sayin is that its easier to access if you take them out. id hate to be doing it and slip and break the radiator or something.
stig, i know that the OP is talkin bout the cam angle. my response was about a complaint by kaino. was directed at him, no-one else.

NO YOUR WRONG… the CAM angle sensor is actually ABOVE the HARMONIC BALANCER and UNDER the water pump pulley and it is NOT inside the timing case at all its bolted outside..

Never said it was INSIDE the timing case, I said it was IN the Timing case, because technically the Magnet sits IN the timing case. It sits just underneath and to the side of the water pump. None the less, its really hard to stuff it up with the CAS sensor.

Well i was just correcting you because you said its above the water pump in the timing case…. and i know its really hard to stuff up with the crank angle sensor but not everyone out there knows a lot about cars and some people need a little help… We all started somewhere there was once when i didn’t even know how to change my oil. So anyways i was just correcting you because you gave him the wrong location and yeh he probe was looking for the wrong thing in the wrong place which would of gotten him nowhere..

Either way its still hard to bloody miss it, considering its the ONLY sensor bolted into the Timing case.

i'd say 15 mins to unplug, undo 1 bolt, remove, reverse procedure, clear ecu, drive away, still don't get why half this thread has nothing to do with the OP's sentence, code 48, 6 cylinder = as he said cam angle sensor.
