Default The Misfire that never goes away *HELP US!*

    Hey all,
I registered on this forum just to post this thread, this is how bad my misfire has gotten in my '97 VS. One day the VS started misfiring only under load, not in neutral. over a week it got worse and worse so i decided to replace the Coilpack/DFI module... nothing.

The misfire kept getting worse and worse untill the point where it was always completely misfiring and sometimes even backfiring! ok, so i then replaced all leads with new leads. after the leads were fitted it got much better, the misfire had completely disappeared. Anyways I kept driving it and over that day the misfire has come back.... stronger than ever.

I have no idea what the source of this misfire is and it is now killing me and my wallet! Can anyone please help a fellow owner out?!!?!

    more info:

Give the car some around a corner it cuts out then in. The revs drop for a second and rocket back up..... everytime it does this the misfire gets worse and worse

Leads, coilpack and DFI module done

You never mentioned changing your spark plugs, did you? I would assume this would be the first step.

I agree with VR38, were the parts new?

Also check all the wiring in the DFI loom

Replace the plugs if you haven't done so already

Also check all your hoses around the intake for a vacuum leak just incase

Lack of fuel could cause this and the thing that sticks out is that it was cutting out going around a corner, so I suggest checking your fuel pump and fuel lines and regulator....

    +1 to what James suggests

I have seen a fuel pump do very similar things caused the car to cough and fart back through the air cleaner whenever you loaded the engine

I completely missed the part about it cutting out around a corner.

+1 for Fuel pump and/or Swirl Pot

Will it do it on a full tank?

reccomend you have your fuel pump checked and replace your fuel filter (behiend drivers side rear wheel arch), when you say goin around a corner and it cuts out sounds like a fuel surge to me, it happens to me all the time when i got less then a quarter of a tank.

might also be crank angle sensor.

well, i replaced all spark plugs again and found one cracked one, misfiring fixed. BUT BUT BUT as I was doing that I found that the motor was twisting when revved off my mounts! This is directly whats causing the shut off and on around corners but again, im not down to the bottom of it yet.

thanks for all your helps guyz

You need to replace your engine mounts.
