vr with ecotech engine

Hi, I have a vr with an ecotech engine. How would I know which model it came from? Is the engine number the only clue?

also what parts from a buick motor are usable with the ecotech, as I have a full vr in the back yard for spares. gearbox,diff, coil packs, etc?

I have no idea. I know what to do with mechanical, but computer and electrical i am a bit challenged in this area! where would I look to find out and what am I looking for?

computer is in the passengers kick panel
