Exclamation VS Auto Gearbox Issue, or Something else ?

    Hey everyone

Today I went down to Sydney, went fine going down.

However when coming home I had traffic before reached the freeway, the shift from 1st-2nd felt harsh almost like it was banging into gear.

When I got back onto the freeway, I went to over take someone, when I tried to accelerate the car just vibrated and would not change down gears or gain any speed at all. This happened every time I tried any sort of acceleration, I got home put it into Park then back into Drive, it then did like it did from 1st to 2nd (went into gear harshly, and car started to vibrate).

Later on, I went out, started it, put it in Drive and it went in smooth and the shift harshness from 1st-2nd was gone.

I have no idea what it could be, any help will be appreciated.

have you checked your fluid level and when was the last time the fluid/filter were replaced

could be the shift solenoids starting to play up too

I have suspected the TPS for a while as constantly even when in first it doesn't really get moving until you put the boot in (feels lazy), I haven't checked the fluid levels yet.

I will service it soon, but I don't think it would explain why it, shifted perfectly afterwards.

I'd agree with all the posts above - and add that the problem will return so you must really find out what caused it. To check for fault codes see:Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised)

Probably because the fluids had settled back in the pan... when it gets hot the problem may happen again.
Best to check the fluids while the motor is running and when it gets up to temp...

People tend to neglect the Trans and then wonder why they have problems.
