VS stalls approx 15min after cold start

My 1995 VS stalls approx 15 min after a cold start, even when driving at up to 60km/hr. After 15 min it never stalls. I 've had new plugs & plug leads. If I stop the engine & restart approx 5 to 7 min after cold starting it does not stall. Does anyone have any ideas on what the proble could be?

Does it restart straight away ? If it doesn't have a good, old plug handy and check for ignition spark, also check your fault codes.

Yes It starts straight away if I stop & restart approx 5 - 7 min after cold start. However if i do not do not stop & restart approx 5 - 7 min after cold start but do this later at approx 12 to 15 min, it does not restart first try. On the second try it starts straight away.

Need more information. Have you checked your fault codes ? on the first try is the engine still winding over ?

I had a tuneup in which the mechanic checked fault codes, however i did not find out what they were, I reckon i should get them checked again. If i stop the engine & restart at 5min after cold start, it restarts straight away If the engine stalls at 12 to 15min it starts first try straight away. If I stop the engine at 12 to 15min after cold start & try to restart the engine starter just keeps winding over but does not start. On a second try it starts straight away. I dont know but perhaps something during warmup changes resulting in a fault, when i turn the engine off & restart it resets?

Isn't that the crank angle sensor playing up? - works when cold or warm but soon as it heats up its cactus. Check by throwing cold water on it when its hot. Do a search on this forum for CAS. Good Luck.

Do a search and find out how to check the error codes yourself. Sounds like it could be the common crank angle sensor. Could also be the dfi module.

I've also just been having the same problem. Can travel 250 kms to and from work site ok but travel from the accomodation to work and also after about 15 minutes cuts out. Starts ok most times. Codes 46 & 49 logged. Fitted new CAS on Saturday so will see how it goes. Cars feels smoother and better pick-up but probably my imagination.
