VS and VT security

Hi all,
I seen a friend from work the other day put a club lock on his VS.
I said why the club lock they are fairly hard to steel, as they have the security (key recognition).
He replied it only lasts for 45 mins.
I told him I didn’t know it resets it’s self after 45mins.
I have a VS and a VT. He said the VT was the same.
My Vs is 1996 exe. My VT is a 1998 aclaim.
We have had the VT for 7 years and use to have full comp insurance on it,, but these days we only have 3rd party and the same with the VS.
We have never worried about the VT being stolen before as it had full comp insurance.
Someone please tell me that it IS hard to steal a VS or VT and most joy riders won’t bother with them.
I can remember when the VN came out in the 90’s they were a common car to get stolen.

Commodores take up 12 or 13 of the top 20 cars most stolen in Australia. VS and VT are both up there. Probably top 10.

I wouldn't bother with a steering lock mate, waste of time in my opinion.

I don't think many joy riders would take a vs/vt for a hoon. Particularly of its a v6 auto with an open diff.

Jappas will still be easier to steal.

I think any extra form of security is a good idea.

It might just make the scumbags move to the Commodore parked next to yours.

So when someone pinches a commodore VS series 2 and upwards they have to wait around for 120 mins before they can start it???????
OR have they been known to just be able to start it straight off?????

I am not sure if my VS is series 2 or 1.
I just figered that if they had to wait around it would be a lot easier to just take a VN or something like that.
I can't be bothered with extra **** on my keyring that I have to press before starting the car.
I remeber when we had a VL many years ago I put central locking with an imobiliser on it,but you have your key and the remote seperate.
I suppose its all a matter of chance as another friend at work has a VL and the door locks are stuffed and he told me he just leaves it unlocked and in 3 years never had a problem.

VR and VS series 1 have a 45 minute security bypass wait time. Series 2 VS and VT and later models use a 120 minute security bypass wait time.

club lock is just another deterrent, they can be removed reasonably quick by someone that knows how without a key, my guess is if the person was going to wait 45-120 mins for the security bypass they'd have plenty of time to get past what ever else is stopping the wheel from turning.

You can bet your last razoo that someone who steals your VR/VS/VT will take less than 2 minutes to have it fully mobile. Immobilisers are there to frustrate honest people.

If they want it, they will take it. My neighbour had a vs s2 wagon, it went missing without anyone knowing within 45 mins. All they need is some common sense and a spare bcm and key to match if they don't want to break anything

Mod feel free to delete this if it's too much
