just did an error code on the bad girl and she spits out code 12 and then code 81 the manual says code 81 is a transmission issue. could it be a dodgy solenoid?

also the car doesnt say rev out like 7000rpm it sounds like it stays in one continous gear but will gradually gain speed. youll put ya foot down halfway and it has a bit of resistance as well.

"Code 81 - 2 - 3 Shift Control Solenoid Fault - Auto Transmission Only"

You need a new 2-3 shift solenoid.

They are pretty easy to do. You will need to drop the pan, so get yourself some fresh transmission fluid and a service kit. Once the pan is off and the filter is out, locate the 2-3 shift solenoid and disconnect the electrical plug (Note, you will more then likely snap the clip on the plug, don't stress too much its a common thing and you shouldn't have an issue with it like that), get a flat blade screw driver and pop out the circlip that holds it in, then just simply pull it out. Install is just reverse.

Check your TPS first as it is directly linked to to the gear box shifts and I have seen one die before and throw a gearbox code

It will be the 2/3 solenoid as Chrispy and FstStig say - this puts the engine light on and the car goes into Limp Home Mode (LHM) which means the car will start and stay in 3rd gear and drive like it is powered by a rubber band.
