It all started with the changes being a little clunky after a highway drive but now the reverse gear makes a slight curning noise and the car seams to want to move but does not. Drive works fine.
I topped up the trany oil but it changed nothing and the oil looked fine (red).

May just need a service dude, or worse. . . . .

I'm a mechanic,it's very common on these autos to lose reverse, full reco or change over will fix it. the only thing i can recomend is always do an auto service every 20,000kms. The price of the service far out ways the repair bill. Not meaning to be a smart arse. good luck, try buying one and installing it yourself, will save lots of cash and always use dextron4

Damn I was hoping for a common problem that had a simple fix :(
Is Dextron4 better than Dextron3? I topped it up with Dextron3.
Whats funny was that I was getting all the oils changed and the Auto serviced on the 8 Dec after a mate of mine mentioned it :(

Here's a long shot: Check that the selector is actually selecting reverse correctly....if the Tbar detent is not in alignment with the transmission it will not properly select the gear. The 4L60E was designed to run with Dextron 3, not 4. And with full respect to gen111bandit, a service every 20000km @ $200 (Townsville prices) over 200,000km equals $2000 which is more than the top cost of a reco auto. Who wins?
