r you talking as mid an rear mount in the engine bay? if so the difference would depend on your type of engine.
the rear mounted type would suit engines that have high intake manifolds i.e groug A, an the brace would go around the back
the mid mounted type would go across the engine

, but once you start changing your suspension i.e lower shocks, stiffer springs and maybe bigger sway bars then the strut brace will really help with cornering as it stops the two towers from flexing which helps keep the susupension setting right i.e castor, camber and toe.
