I have a 1994 V6 VR executive, and just yesterday something stuffed up.

What happens is that the throttle feels delayed. When I press the accelerator, it takes like a second to realize I’m pressing it, then finally rev. also now when I start the car, it will rev to around 2,000rpm, and then after about 10 seconds go back down to 1ish as it used too. What do you reckon it could be? Its really annoying when driving because you give it throttle to bloody move, and its delayed.

It first happened yesterday after some woman was going 30kph in a 60 zone, so she moved over the side or the 1 lane road, and when I had a chance I floored it to get past her. I don’t know if this buggered anything, but I just thought I would add that in.

Thanks in advance

Dainen.

could be the accelerator cable getting stuck somehow?
have a look at the throttle body and see if it gets stuck or something?

yeah i looked at that and it doesnt seem to be getting loose, or sticking or anything. but when i give it throttle by actually turning the throttle body, it is still delayed.

have you taken your throttle body off, and given it a thorough clean, i think its in the Howto section of just com. and also how about the fuel filter? when was last time you replaced it? as it maybe slightly blocked, not quiet sure, try these 2 and see how you go, and let us no:thumbsup:

yeah i thought that, but i turned the throttle from the engine that the cable would normally turn, so the cable wasnt being used, and it was still delayed.

fitzy2005 thanks, i'll give those a try and see what happens

ARGH ALSO!! i forgot to mention!!

if you're in neutral, and you press the accelerator, it will firstly rev LOWER than idle, then after that, begin to rev to where it should.

hmm, it sorta sounds like the throttle isnt opening properly, so it may just need a good clean  cheers
