Can someone please explain difference between VS & VT ecotecs???
i've got the idea that some changes were made. is this just all in the engine managment? I know power figures were the same.
Has anyone tried fitting a VT onwards ecotec to a VS??

No difference apart from the VT motor being newer.

i thought the tensioner pulleys were different on the VS SI and SII and they changed the alternator late into VS SII?

Nope, same power output at same rpm. My ex's boyfriend tried to tell me his VS was more powerful because it had a VT motor, I wanted to slap him.

The VT is 152kw officialy, the extra power output compared to the VS is due to the new larger air box and CAI that came standard on all models. The VT motors can fit VS no problem, however I'm pretty sure some minor things have to be done for a straight swap.

raging bull,
in my sales brochure for VT v6 had 147kw.
however, i have found vt v6's to be a lot smoother, perhaps just because there newer.
also air induction setup is a lot better on vt's as you said. (wonder why they didn't claim extra in my sales brochure? as you say, the better air box should be worth 1kw or something.) the VS airbox is a hotbox thats gets hot air straight from the radiator.
