having a prob that is shitting me too tears...

gearbox doesnt seem to sit "straight"....its hard to explain, but basically, my shifter on my 5spd sits off to the right about an inch, which means aligning it with consoles is extremely difficult...

is there any reason as to why it wouldn't be sitting in straight??

it's a tricky one to explain, so heres a pic

I know nothing of manual Commodores but one reason I can think of is that maybe on the drivers side the area where his/her left leg rests is larger than the opposite side to allow for easy operation of the clutch (make sense?). Left hand side is not always a mirror image of right hand side. Otherwise, I'd go to a used car lot, find a manual VS and sit in the drivers seat and eyeball the position of the gearstick.....because unless you are having problems with gear selection or whatever I'd say it may be "normal".
