VR v6 here. I get on average 10.1 Ltr / 100km per the trip computer (don't know how accurate it is). That means I get about 600km to the tank. I have extractors and 2.5" exhaust.

I managed to get 520km out of 63lt tank. That was using Mobile S8000 and giving it a bit here and there. My extractor and CAI probably help out a bit though. That works out to be 12.1 ltrs per 100km which is almost the same as stock.

    VR's - V6 Automatic: City / Highway: 12.0 / 7.6 L/100km

    VS's V6 Automatic: City / Highway: 11.5 / 7.2 L/100km

i only just got my car.. VR ute. and i have filled it up twice. and worked it out to be about 12ltrs/100 kms..

car has done 230k kms. what could i look at to improve this? it has genie extractors and sports exhaust,or so the guy told me, although it does sound very loud. i dunno if it has anything else that would make it use more fuel. ie i wouldnt mind the extra fuel use if im getting more power...

What do you consider a tank? Unless you run it dry you are actually getting better mileage than you think BT1. I usually get about 560km out of 54ltrs round town and 650km out of 53ltrs on the highway.

I actually did run the tank dry. Only thing I can not be sure of is the actual amount of fuel it had when I filled it up.

VR V6 Suburban diving usually around 9.8-10l /100k, Higway driving, I can get it down 8.9l / 100k. Ive got CAI, K&N Filter, Extractors and exhaust, running optimax.

I'm quite happy with my mileage.

It depends if you are doing city driving or freeway. Also depends if you leave your car idleing for any period of time for whatever reason. I think you are a bit too keen to replace the sensors.

Concerns me being an apprentise. i NEED all the money i can get and the old saying, spend money to make money.. on a 02 sensor might be a wise move.. there are so many fluctuations on these cars when there all the same motors.. would be nice if there was a more common figure :P

Krikey, you lot get crap fuel economy!

I have a SII 95 VR Berlina (According to the plate in the engine bay, it was built on the 21st of April, 1995, so it must be close to one of the last of the VR's to come off of the production line) and I get just under 1000K's a tank out on the highway....

It has the standard 63 Litre tank in it and I set the cruise control to 95KMH for max economy.

The car has a near new engine (almost 20,000Km old) and a reconditioned, modified Auto transmission, Pacemaker extractors, CAT back freeflow exhaust (Resonator only, no rear muffler), and it has been chipped. (By who, I do not know, it was done before I got the car).
The auto has Kevlar bands, Corvette Servo, Stage 2 shift kit and the 9 plate 2-3 clutch pack fitted. (I tow a caravan occasionally)

'Round town, I get about 650 - 700Km or more a tank which is about 10 to 11L/100Km.
Average fuel consumption on the highway is 6.5L/100KM.
Compares pretty well to the stock 7.5L/100 on the highway that they were sposed to do.

I like the VR's, sure we may not have quite as many KW as the VS, but the older engine is easier to get more power from and uses less fuel doing it than the Ecotec ever will.
We also benefit from a larger fuel tank than the VS. (VR= 63 Litres - VS = 59 Litres.)
(And a little less weight to lug around helps too)

    Cheers,

Default omg always less than 400k

    wtf ! ! ! !! i get 350 average and thats nearly pushing it everywhere.. its done 135000k xtractors 2.5 straight through.cai and k and n panel...

i think ive cracked 400ks once

does the weight of 2x12" subs and box cause this, ? cause i noticed as i drove outta northfield thats its got less power with the extra weight...

when the extractors went on they didnt hook up the oxy censors and the engine light was on till i went back and had them put them back in (dangeling in the breaze).

Ive heard that new extractors may burn the inside coating off till they are "broken in" and it can cause oxy censors to stuff up...

the car is only 700k outta service, is there nething they "mec" should be replacing to fix my prob of **** all fuel economy ? ?

i average about 9-10L/100 city driving.
I recently earthed the O2 sensors from th ECU to th ecar body and it did make a noticable difference.
Haven't tried a highway run yet, but i doubt it would be any better, i sit on about 115-120km , so probably sucks the juice a bit more

I've got a VS Berlina V6 and have kept a log of all the fuel used & distance etc since I bought the car, over 60,000kms I have averaged 11.7 / 100kms.

Usually around town I get anywhere from about 380kms to about 450kms out of a full tank, depending on the traffic.

Best economy I have had out of it was 7.2 /100kms out on the highway, drove from Cooma NSW via Cann River back to Melbourne on just over 3/4 of a tank, and a lot of that was with the A/C running.

Car has got 160,000kms on it now, only modification is the S/C 6 cold air intake, and a K & N panel. I only run premium unleaded fuel, seems to go well on Mobil 8000, but Caltex Vortex gives the best economy.
