All VN to VS Commodores - IRS and solid rear - had rear disc brakes as standard as far as I am aware....no drum brakes unless you are referring to the handbrake which is drum and fitted to all models.
I have been told that the rear drum brake model axle seals are thinner by a few mm than the disk brake versions.
Is this true ? does anyone know for sure 100% that the drum brake seal is thinner, if not the collet must nut be fully home on the bearing, making it rattle at the rear end like a loose exhaust.
It may explain the slop on my NSR axle end float slop with what is meant to be a new wheel bearing fitted only a month ago.
If the repairer has used the wrong seal that may explain the 2-3mm slop in the axle.

I meant the early commodores VB VC VH VK etc, or whenever they switched over to disk all round.
Nothing to do with the later model handbrake inside the disk centre.
