half way through doing the CAI and was wondering if anyone has tried bending/streching PVC?

trying to find a way to do it without forking out the cash for a heat gun

thanks

If the angle you want to achieve is 45/90 degrees, try using an elbow join just make sure you seal the joins with pvc adhesive. Hope this helps :)

sorry but the heat gun is the best way... you need to get it really hot to bend it

yeh i thought so. A guy up the street told be to just put some of the PVC "cement" (that blue glue) on the outside and set it on fire, bent, then dunk in water. Sand the crap off the outside and your done.
Sounds a bit sus and i would be worried about the fumes.
but it might be cheaper than a heat gun.... whats everyone think?

try it i reckon.... it sounds like it might work.... or you could try and lend someones. it will take about 2 seconds with an oxy torch on LOW heat.

Be very careful around PVC tubing and heat/fire. There can be a lot of nasty chemicals in PVC tubing.

And if you are going to burn anything on it keep clear of RTV.

You could try cashconverters or some other secondhand shop for a heatgun...
I bought a new one years ago for $60 to strip some paint off our house... and it never got used again... so mine ended up in a secondhand shop...LOL

Heat gun is the go.
You should be able to pick up a cheap chinese one from a hardware store for around $30.
For sharp bends though just glue some elbows in.

A good trick with a heat gun is to heat the end of the pvc pipe and then push it over a funnel and you can form a bellmouth.
Paul.
