Hey all,

I saw a picture of some guy on sc forums that had modified his ashtray to fit switches, i thought this was a sick idea and thought i would give it ago. But i came into a problem, i put the switch in and all that but when i tried to put the ashtray back into it's spot the prongs coming out of the switch hit the bit of plastic which house's the Power/Econemy button.

Has anyone tried this on this on their VN-VS? and if so how did u get around the problem?

If all else fails ill try and cut a bit of the plastic out.

It would depend where you put the switch. If its directly next to the power switch then there is no way of getting around it unless you have a smaller switch that will fit the gap. You would need to check both sides of the ash tray and see which one will give you the room you need.

I havent done this before but this is how i would go about it...

you may want to source a 2nd hand ashtray incase you stuff it up...

here's a rough diagram aswell

ok... cut the bottom off the ashtray

glue a wider flat piece of plastic on the inside of the tray ( araldite it from below )

cut the holes into the plastic you just glued in for the switches...

* green square represents switch & red line repesents plastic sheet glued in side ashtray

Ok i finished it and it all looks mint, i modified the peice of plastic that surounds the gear selecter in a way that it would not make it weaker, and now the switch fits and it looks sick.
