well how does it go when you you close it? is it crushing the intake at all, or is there any other parts touching the bonnet when it goes down?

a common problem, don't attempt to adjust anything or you may start issues like warping the bonnet which will cost heaps.
Try putting chalk dust and see where the contact of the bonnet and the plastic occurs.
Pour boiling water on that spot and close the bonnet. Allow it to stay closed for at least a day, if it is still a problem repeat with boiling water again.
It may take sometimes 3 goes, the alternative is a heat/ paint stripper gun with only heat, no flame on the area that meets and pushing it down with a peice of wood.
Lets face it its plastic and requires training on how to sit with the rest of the car.

in the meantime, heres how to break into your bonnet using 1 manpower.

1. open drivers window.
2. stand outside.
3. pull bonnet releaser with one hand
4. push down on bonnet with other hand

I have not got around to fixing mine yet, but got the *its with getting my missus to give me a 'hand' (!) all the time

Just have a play, I bet you can find the problem in 10 minutes and probably solve it and let everyone know how. Just hold the bonnet almost closed and see if it is touching anything ( I would be looking firmly at the CAI).

I have the same CIA and my bonnet was sticking... requiring a few pulls of the lever...

I just squirted some CRC into the latch mechanism... all ok now
