hey guys, just a quci question about me fuel consumption.

my v6 vr auto (with a CAI and Hi Flow Filter) went for its first highway experience the last few days. i travelled 307km over 2 days sitting at pretty constant 100km/h . it used 30lts of fuel. which works out to be:
9.77lt/100km (highway)

the thing thats worrying me is it used half a tank on the highway for this. my bros got a ecotec (with just a hi flow filter), and he travelled about 540km and used 35lts, (so around 6.5lt/100km)

any ideas is this normal difference between a buick and a ecotech ?

It depends on heaps of things including tyre pressures road temp load in the car etc etc.
On a trip to Townsville we got 760kms to a tank in my V6 statesman.

cheers, only had me and a spare tyre and tyre pressure was 38 each tyre but it wasnt a hot day so i wouldnt imagine the road temp would be too bad

believe it or not.....GMH say that the ecotech motor uses less fuel, totally untrue,i was talking to a retired GMH mechanic now,he was telling me that the ecotech engine is actually heavier on petrol than your average run of the mill VN buick,he sold his VS and went back to a VN

that would be it :) A prob with your buick, why would someone thats very experienced in VN's right thru, sell his VS and go back to a VN,and is saving the extra that he otherwise would of had to put in his VS for fuel.
