Hey All
I had my radiator taken out of the VR yesterday, n had both tanks sand
blasted, flushed n rewelded back on
Now i supplied them castrol radiator coolant to put back in the system n
when i opened up the cap this morning to check the fluid levels, i found
this!
What the hell!
there was nulon red radiator coolant in the system before the flush.. has
this had a reaction?
Anyone ever seen anything like this before?
Any help much appreciated!

just had a mate over whos a mechanic n he said that theres no coolant in there!
i brought 6 litres of green inhibitor for them to put in, n there is no green coolant in site!
he said all it is, is the remaining red coolant from the previous flush, n just plain water that wasnt removed when they flushed the system!!
this makes me so pissed off!
i buy them the coolant to put in the car n all they do is rip me off!
im going to go back on monday n im gonna be asking questions!

This is probably way off the mark, but with that 'red' coolant, it changes colour (reacts) to certain acids in the system, ie from a head gasket leak.
I always thought it went yellow, but hey that looks real suss!

im guessing it has had a reaction with something
they obviously didnt flush the system out properly (like i asked them too)
im gonna be going back monday morning, roaring up the driveway, popping the hood, opening the radiator cap n saying wtf is this sh*t?
my 6 litres of green coolant that i brought to be put in is nowhere to be seen!
im going 2 demand that they remove the radiator, flush it, flush the heater core, refit the radiator, flush the system completely n then refill the system with my coolant, while i supervise, n all at no charge
after its done, 2 big black thick lines are in order going out of their driveway

Yeah i'm with salem,
Be nice, get them to fix it.. and when they're finished and give you the keys, give them the 2 black marks of dissaproval in the driveway. And if you blow your radiator doing ther burnout get them to fix it.. ha ha

Nothing
Depends how co-operative they want to be, but I still reckon you should leave to big black marks anyway.

Update: I went to several people this morning and they included: another radiator specialist, a transmission specialist and my mechanic, all who said whoever flushed that system didnt know what they were doing!
it turns out, they didnt flush the heater core, only the radiator, leaving a good 3-5 litres of RED coolant in the system! add castol GREEN coolant to this, and thats what u get
one things for sure, ill never be going back there!
took it home, dropped it all out, disconnected the heater taps and then flushed both the radiator and the heater core till i got nothing but clean water out
hooked everything back up, put some nulon radiator flush and clean in, filled her up with water n went on a good hour drive
got home, waited for it to cool off, then dropped the bottom hose, disconnected the heater tap n proceeded to flush it completely clean again!
the result, nothing but sparking clean water coming out, in goes 6 litres of castrol concentrated coolant, n just filled the rest up with water!
beautiful!
