hey all.... latest problem...

the light globes that illuminate the fuel gauge, temp and the right side of the speedo (half the speedo) are not working as well as the power button light....

if i give the dash a good tap where the lights are not working they will come back on but eventually turn off....

checked the connector on the PCB and seems to be plugged in OK....

anyone had the same probs......

any reccomendations to a fix?

Cheers

Sounds like the globes have come a little loose.

I pulled my dash out, and I have the same thing.
I whack it and its fine. just pull out the dash and either secure the globes, or change them at the same time, that way you'll no u wont have to do it for some time.

I didn't realise the power button had a light. i know the gear selector does.
Thats a simple matter of pulling up the cover and replacing the globe.

Cheers, Keegan

thanks for your reply.... i dont think it would be the globe themselves as three of them go on and off at the same time (unless that circuit runs in series and needs one globe working to run all three)

im heading towards a connector or pin coming loose but not 100%

"the power button light" i mean the one on the dash that tells u whether your in power mode....

Ahhhh okay.

That makes more sense to me now.
The power light button, thats down the bottom, where the cruise and engine lights and stuff are? Been a while since I've driven a VS. That may just be a blown globe.

As for the others, if its not a connector or a pin problem, you might try looking for a dry solder join(cracked), or a problem on the circuit board somewhere, crack in it or similar somehwere.

Did u do anything to the dash, or did it just start playing up?

yeh the power light where the engine light etc are....

the only thing is when u tap the dash near the fuel gauge and tacho ... all of the lights will come on including the three or so dash lights and also the power light.... until it stops workin by itself....

nothin was touched on the dash or around the electrics.... so im thinking maybe a loose terminal or as u say might be a cracked track on the pcb.....
