Wink 96 VS UTE - Fuel smell in cabin

When i fill my Fuel tank up to full i get a strong smell of fuel into the cabin.

Is there a mod or easy fix for this.

    Cheers,

    Steve

check fuel regulator vacuum hose for petrol if yes replace it
check carbon canister and assosiated hoses for crackes

There are small hoses about the width of your pinky finger which return fuel vapours. These are really crappy and will deteriorate really badly. This will normally leave you with a fuel smell after you fill up. I have a sedan and have replaced one or two of the hoses behind the drivers side rear wheel panel but i think you will need to take it to a mechanic to drop the tank out, unless you are competent to perform it yourself. This may not be your problem, but thats a problem i had when i found a fuel smell.

Common fault with utes. Clear breather comes out of black rubber hose at tank. Remove tank cover in ute back for good access (lots of screws) or move drivers seat forward and remove small black cover on rear wall behind seat and look in there. I'm an ex Holden Mechanic so done heaps of them. Easier to do than describe.
