Chemtech CT18 does a great job. Available at most auto shops. Using degreaser over time can be a bit harsh on the non metal components.

yeah if u dont have a painted engine cover like me, u can go nuts with some cans of degreeser, let it soak in a bit then u can ither hose it off or high pressure hose it off, just b sure not to spray the alternator too much and dont spray side on to the oil cap (can work its way up there and into the rockers) other than that everything is fine to blast the hell out of. ive done it many times

Make sure you use a 'solvent' degreaser - most of the cheap pressure pack ones that sell for around $2 are solvent based and are OK . This means that they will not corrode alloy parts of your engine. Most bulk degreasers which come in 4 litre packs for around $10 are caustic based and will corrode the hell out of anything made from alloy giving it that powdery appearance - don't use them. Also go easy with the water blasting - if you spray enought degreaser on you will only need a soft spray to remove the dirt. Use a pressure water blaster and you will stuff your electric up for sure plus they will lift all stickers/decals etc.
