lets hear about some insurance prices uze r all payin and for what. me mate is payin full comp on a eb tickford for 500 odd. but if he crashes he hasta pay 1000 or some shit. so if ur a good driver it's the way to go. what r all uze payin??.
i pay like $550 a year, but like ur mate im guessing, i am not a nominated driver, its under my dads same, but if i crash and its my fault, we have to pay the first $2000 of any repairs i think
Well I'm an old bastard and retired but my right foot hasn't. I pay $220 (thats right!) for full comprehensive and lifetime rating one from CGU thru Credit Union Australia. I pay the first $350.
If I was a young hoon I'd go for "Third party property damage only" which covers any damage you do to other cars and things. That costs as low as $90 from AAMI(my son has that on and EB and he's 22).
If I was a sensible careful under 25 driver with a car that cost me a lot of $$$ then I'd get my parents to insure it comprehensively in their name as the premium may be as low as what I pay ($220). Of course if I had a prang I'd have to pay a lot upfront but I'd be saving on annual premiums.
Yesterday I purchased a 96 VSII Calais, (stock) supercharged. Only just clicked over 100,000k's yesterday. My bank wouldn't give me the loan for the car unless i took out full comprehensive first. I'm 26. No accidents and clean driving record and 65% no claim bonus.
NRMA wanted $1730
Gio $1660
Shannons $1370
Budget Insurance $849 but I had to tell them I'd made a claim 4 years ago due to vandalism they bumped it up to $1200. Forget that!
AAMI (current insurer of my 95 exec) wouldn't insure me because I'm under 30 and have a supercharged engine. Went with Just Car Insurance for $1297 and is insured for $10500.
My VS exec with AAMI is currently $708 but is insured for $8500 (agreed value)
Paying around $980 pa on mine, not sure on the excess, around $850? (350 + under 25)..
I'm 22 and have no previous rating..
Driving a CURSED WH V6.
im 18 and mine cost me about 1300. got my dad to pay for it though so i didnt really care. its with RAC and insured up to $6000. if i stuff up though i have to pay the first $900, i think.
i got a friend who got the same cover i think but it only cost him $750. but he drives a holden apollo 4cyl so yeah im guessing thats why.
$1400 for a VR Acclaim Rating 4 full Comp i pay standard excesses $400+under25
Thats tellin them its lowered,tinted,stereo
Re my $220 per year for full cover, my wife has a 2 year old New Beetle and full insurance for it is $440 thru the same mob as I have. We have all our insurance thru the credit union - house, contents and 2 cars. You young blokes really get ripped off by insurance companies probably for 2 reasons = 1...you have more prangs 2...you fail to shop around.
i'm payin 1800 full comp with aami, because i'm 19 and livin in sydney. and if i crash i pay 1200 excess.
i pay $900 for my vs to be comprehensively insured with RACQ....
its got 18" rims,vx clubby kit, lowered on super kings, lukey 2 1/2" exhaust and extractors, yella terra stealth street rockers,CAI + k&n pod, performance chip, viper pager alarm and remote start + a bunch more stuff which i cant be bothered writing...
because of the aftermarket kit i have a special excess of $1k if im at fault in a crash...plus another $500 excess for being under 25.
I pay $900 for a VX SS...... insured for $26,000
$150 excess......
Not to be driven by anyone under the age of 21
" Behold the turtle. He makes progress only when he sticks his neck out "
this year its $2700 for a vn 5 litre, 17 years old, no claims, $1300 excess and insured for $13,500 now
boona15 you're mad. I know its nice to have a v8 but whoa.
I have a VR acclaim, am 19, rating 2 through AAMI. About $350 i think I just paid and agreed value about $6000. Excess about $1000.
hey its going down slowly.... haha but see if my car gets written off by some grandma its not like im gonna exactly be downgrading cars...... 13 and a half is decent so i dont mind paying for it... plus i get all my no claim bonuses and stuff so im not really missing out
Fail to shop around? I was quoted up to $2100 for my insurance.. I did a fair bit of research and am pretty happy with the result, keeping in mind this is the first car I have owned and have no rating whatsoever.Originally Posted by hako
Allianz were willing to give me year for year rating for the period i have held my license (3 years) since I've had no prangs, which got it to about $1100, but obviously as time goes by the additional discount is limited.
I'd recommend comp insurance, yes its more, but since I got hit (rear end - not at fault) I'm very glad I have it. The other driver was fully insured - but what if they werent? I'm covered for an amount as well even if the other driver is uninsured. And i now know it's not one of those "it'll never happen to me" things - it will.
Driving a CURSED WH V6.
thats right u get what you pay for when you are gettin yourself started......anyone can drive my car and its insured which is good because it means i can actually be financially safe if someone has a slip up in my car
Yes anyone can drive mine, however excess is higher for younger/inexperienced drivers.
Generally I don't expect anyone else to drive it - but you never know..
I know my little sister will want a burn when she comes to visit later in the year :P
Driving a CURSED WH V6.
yeh mines more for a just incase i wanna get blind and someone else is willing to drive lol![]()
but its handy to have for say going on long trips and taking turns with the driving....imagina hitting a roo in someone elses car and the car not being insured
Thats exactly what I said - "you don't shop around" (and aren't happy) - but you (mattman) shopped around and are quite pleased with what you are paying and you saved $1000 by shopping around. Unfortunately most do not shop around and take what they are offered first.Originally Posted by mattman
i shopped around for cover my vs 5L ute. im 19. and the only insurance company to cover was just cars. i pay $2448 a year for full comp.
Its a shame about the cost of insurance for V8's and V6's. I think the better way to go for insurance companys would be to add a large excess for 'high performance engine' or something along those lines.
So if a person wanted a V8 or supercharged V6 they could pay a regular premium and if they did have an accident pay a 'high performance' excess on top of their regular excess, say a further $1000.
I would like to own a SV6 or V8 but dont really want to fork out so much for insurance so have chosen to wait until im 25.
But 25 seems so far away, still 5 years for me. I cant believe when im 23 I still wont be 'trusted' with a V8. I suppose thats the way the insurance companies see the results.
Im not a racer or a car thrasher, I just want a powerful engine. Dont speed but like a nice take off.
I am a rating 2 with AAMI, late this year becoming a rating one, and I would soon like to get a VY. I am interested in a supercharged engine.
The naturally aspirated six makes 152kW
The supercharged engine makes 171kW
They will insure me for the 152kW but wont insure me with 19 extra kW.
Sounds rough, especially if I am holding a rating one.
Like i said before. I'm 26, perfect driving record, and 65% NCB. Supercharged 6 (completely stock) and AAMI who are my company for everything including home insurance wouldn't touch me until I'm 30. That sucks! I agree with the previous post, there should be a 'peformance' excess for at fault accidents and keep the premium down.Originally Posted by kopper69
Im 17 red P plater with NRMA and pay a bit over $500 for third party. Does anyone know if you need to tell them about minor mods eg. exhaust, brakes, etc?
Boona, honestly dude, that's just too outrageous a price. I'd just be paying third party insurance untill I got 65%.
I pay $1958 with 65% no claim bonus and $500 excess (pretty sure it's $500) on a VXII SS manual insured for $29,000 and parked in the southern suburbs of Sydney. They where the cheapest quote I managed to get on the day (probably because of the discount they give when you have more than one policy with them). They wanted to insure the vehicle for about $26,500, but I felt it's value should be increased because of the very low Ks travelled (36,500). You don't see many 4 and half year old manual SS's in car yards, let alone with this sort of distance travelled.
I only got a couple of prices before settling on NRMA. The insurer the finance company suggested wanted nearly $500 more.
I pay nothing!!!
When I got quoted $2000 plus for insurance, i figured that as long as i dont crash my car for 4 years I cut even.
I just have to pray that i dont get hit by a crazy $100K four wheel drive and then get stuck with the bill!!! I have seen what happens to uninsured drivers in a crash. The insurance company of the other driver blames and chases them down hoping that they will admit guilt.
My brother was hit by some dumb ass driver who did a U-Turn right into my brother's car. Then for 6 months the dumb ass had his insurance company threaten law suits and everything in an attemp to get my brother to pay.
My brother still didn't get his car fixed. But no way in hell was he going to pay!!!
Insurance companies dont deserve my money!!!
