Auto VS on a dyno

G'day, im new to posts so dont pick too much.

Anyway i was wondering if anyone has some advice on how to use an auto on a dyno. I study at tafe and one teacher is a power nut, and will let us thrash the dyno(just been fixed after a VERY powerful commy killed it) and was wondering how you go about it. Wont the car want to kick down the gears when hammered in 3rd?

Any help or experience would be great.

i dont think it will kick down if your tyres are moving at 140km/hr

But you need to be able to slowly get it into 3rd then pin it, dont you?

yer u just slowy get to 3rd gear and when your doin around 140kms then pin it so it doesnt drop down

I'm interested to know what the commodore had in it that broke the dyno?

The commodore that broke it was that loud everyone had to wear earmuffs, this was before my time though. Oh and the dyno is on the oldish side.

At tafe with a Vs statesman V6 supercharged we lock it in 3rd gear. set the dyno to 90klms you hold it at 90klms then plant the throtle, it shouldn't matter about it kicking back a gear because the car SHOULD be chained down tieght when on a dyno
