VS ignition problems?

G'day, i am having a few problems, every now and then (it appears to be random) i will pull up and go to turn the car off but when i turn the key and pull it out the igniton stays on, car running and everything, as if the igniton were still set to 'on'. this is a major inconvenience, an nrma dude has told me he has no idea, while my mechanic has said it could be 100 different things, but he couldnt do anything unless it was actually playing up at the time, which of course it never does. any help or suggestions would be great?

Never had this problem or heard of this problem before but I would be suspecting the ignition barrel. When you turn the key off does it feel like it clicks through the acc or does it feel a bit loose.

Interesting problem. Sounds like an intermittent fault in your ignition switch. Have never heard of that particular problem before.
