I wana make my VR sound sweet, like a nice loud and deep roar so that people notice my car when i go by, but im not sure who to go to or what to go with..

So far I have rang the following and got prices..

Aussie Discount Mufflers.......$260 6 months warranty
AAA Exhausts.....................$290 2 year warranty
(plus extra for what chrome tip I get)

and then the options i got offered are..

1. 2.5" catback, mandrel bent, with one muffler and straight pipe
2. 2.5" catback, mandrel bent, with one muffler and a resonator on the end

What do you guys have? Anyone able to give me some advice on what to do?

Im hoping to get it done this thurs wen i get paid

2.5" cat back mandrel bent exhaust is good, but the final exhaust sound and volume realy depends on
1 the size of the muffler ( the longer the quieter, pipes are offset or straight through)
2 with resonator constant volume but a bit quieter
or without resonator can cause the exhaust to have a barking effect at a RPM point about 2500 to 3000
3 the number of bends and how sharp they are also make an exhaust quieter
4 how hard you normaly drive

I have a Vr v6 S2 and my son has a Vy v6, both have 2.5" cat back exhausts no resinator made and fitted by the same company, and they both sound different. Mine is low volume and deep note and I'm happy with it, my sons higher volume barks and crackles, too noisey for me.

So the final outcome and decision is where you get it done and if you are happy with it because no one can realy make the choice for you, but keep in your mind the above points.

The thing that im worried about is, if I go the 2.5" catback, mandrel bent, with one muffler and it turns out with a **** crackle sound am I going to be stuck with that?

I got s/s 2.5" catback, mandrel bent with muffler... sounds pretty good IMO, hasn't hit the 5k run in yet so still some improvement to come.

I got mine done at exhaust techniques in Adelaide... it was $350 for mild steel inc chrome tip, but i went for stainless at $650, sounds a touch better and has a 10 year garantee, so basically the life of the car, will never have to worry about it again.

So you guys think I shud go with option 1?
Yes and if you find it's a bit noisey to your taste get the resonator put in.

Seemed good to me... Darren swears by them too :p

D&T are supposed to be very good, but pricey too.
