my VS has been running realy hot lately, the temp gauge dosnt say so but you can feel the heat comin from the engine and there is sometimes a bit steam/heat fumes when you open the hood after a drive. any idea why?

it's the sheer nature of the internal combustion engine. they get hot.
if it's a hassle, buy/build a vented bonnet

there may be a problem with your thermostat if your engine is steaming and stuff and the temp guage isnt showing abnormal temps.
its likely to be stuck, which is pretty common.

If you are not losing coolant then the steam must be coming from ???. When the electric fans kick in it can be like standing in front of a blast furnace.
