it does have irs. all statesman's have it. there are a few checks, the back wheels will have a little negative camber (angle), and the rear spring isnt coil over shock (no shock absorber through the spring).

an easier way is too start the car up get ur mate to watch the rear wheels while u drop it in to drive. the ass end will drop bout half an inch and raise when you put in park or reverse

As per all of the above posts, you will 100% have IRS. All statesmans had it standard from VQ onwards. As charged6_vsacclaim says the giveaway is the drop in the rear end when you go into drive.

The last post in the following thread I've posted a couple of pics of the live axle versus IRS diff which you'll be able to see from the rear of your car:
http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/showthread.php?t=13419

In simple terms the IRS has a left and right axle that can move up and down independently of each other (hence the name "independent rear suspension") so when the left wheel goes up the right wheel stays put.

With the live axle rear, it has a massive housing containing the diff and both axles as 1 solid unit, so when the left wheel goes up the right wheel tries to go down but can't go down any futher because of the road beneath so the whole car body twists to the right.

Mark.

Hi mate

Yea its going good

Ive got the stereo installed in the car its fully sound deadened so theres no rattles in the car from all the bass my sub makes :my:

Its got new JVC cd player, Boston front splits, Clarion rear splits, 2 Alpine V12 amps an a Kicker square 12inch in it atm.

Also putting on 19" VZ clubbie wheels on it and lowering it with some super lows.

See here : http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/showthread.php?t=30090

Once the cars done ill post up pics of it from start to finish :D :D

Cheers Guys
