Does anyone know anything about these?
Are they any good and what makes em different to the standard stuff u get?
Are they shorter than the standard suspension in s VS Series 1?
What type of springs are ideal to match/complement FE2's?
I know they are an optional extra from commodore are there any comparable or better shock absorbers out there?
Do i need to tell my Insurance if i have these installed?
Thanks,
ChilliWilli
I used 30 mm front lowered king springs but I wished I had used factory fe2 ones now..had problems with the top coils touching each other and making a noise through the steering when turning .The spring type is progressive rate with the top coils being closer at the top but when it is sitting at kerb weight the top 3 coils touch each other...the bloke at kings said this is to keep the spring captured.
For me Pedders stuff was out of the question too dear and too heavy.
From what I've heard the 2 in fe2 means 2 inch lowered but the spring support on the original strut is welded a bit lower on the tube...closer to the wheel ..not much but a little.
The cost is quite reasonable factory and I think mr spares has some too that are near new.
From the spec in the factory book for a v6 sedan the stock front spring has 6.36 coils and the fe2 has 5.88. The stock is a variable rate and the fe2 is linear
For the rear the spring standard has 9 coils and the fe2 has 8.12
both are linear rate.

ok...some info....Originally Posted by ChilliWIlli
standard suspension has a production code of FE1
..that is.. a particular spring and strut (and shocker) part combo = FE1
FE2 is the same sort of thing...this combination of springs and struts and shocks...makes it up and is what is fitted in the factory....
the difference???FE1 vs FE2???
FE2 is 25mm lower than FE1...made up of slighter shorter (and stiffer...higher rated if you like) springs and a strut lower in the mount
and to work as designed, they use a different set of anti-sway (stabilizer) bars front and rear also...
FE2 is an option...you order with the car and is built in...
but you can go that way after.....but its expensive.....
Holden uses Monroe shocks on FE1 and FE2
lower???
use Kings or Pedders or your choice.....of springs and struts/shocks
insurance??
FE2 would be no problem (as its Factory)
lower thru using Kings can be a problem....
you will have to see what your insurer says....

Thanks Guys much appreciated with the amazing information and advice.
I am considering some FE2 Shocks matched with some (30mm Drop) low Kings Springs. I was quoted $338 delivered.
and a quotation for $250 for installation labour with a wheel allignment.
Looks like i'll have to give my insurer a call tomorrow...
www.members.optushome.com.au/beefice/vr1 <-- King superlows with lowered Monroe shockers
Part numbers are as follows
Front struts : 35-3424, 35-3425
Rear shocks: 15-0232
Front Springs: KHFL-46HD (V8) (V6 are KHFL-46)
Rear Springs: KHRL-46SL (V6 n V8 are the same)
thats lowered the car about 30mm FROM FE2 height
