Has any one bought the bolt on super charger from the rod shop, if so how dose it go.
many people have them. can't say how they go from experience, but stacks of people have them. I guess they aren't bad for the money, but if you're after gobs of power/torque, save more money and buy a real blower

If the CRS is as far as you can stretch in $$ terms and you aren't prepared to save any more then get er on. Don't expect too much action but you will be able to proclaim "this baby is blown"![]()
what are these kits worth? also what power are they making in stock 6s? im doing the whole budget thing also were is the rod shop ?
or is there any other kits around at a good price?

same kit but cheaper
well I'm planning on getting this kit:
http://www.capa.com.au/kits_holden_vnvy_v6.htm
costs a bit but hopefully it will make me happy I'm going to order it Friday.
yeah i was looking at that one the other day .... they us no how it goes
Yer Stage 2 looks hot hey, are you gonna dyno it after you fit it? Boosted V6
There is another fella on this forum his ute goes pretty well, he has different system, could be cheaper by a good bit too. Check with him he could tell you the ins and outs

You can not safely give a standard ecotec motor more than about 6psi of boost. If you do, theres a good chance something very very bad will happen, ending in about $5000 worth of engine rebuild.
If you get the CRS kit or similar, you'll put 3psi into it, or with their smaller pulley, 6psi. This is a good bet if your budget is limited.
If you want MORE POWER (who doesnt hehehe) you might like to consider dropping in an L67 motor from a factory supercharged VS Calais, VT or WH Stato for example. This is what I am planning to do with mine and I found a place that has one from a WH Stato for $4400 complete. The standard L67 runs about 7 or 8 psi of boost and the internals can handle 12 pounds constant and even 17 psi for short periods such as a day at the drags.
FIT make an excellent selection of modifications for the L67 including an assortment of different pulleys to provide varying boost pressures and the best thing is that these can be changed in 5 minutes with a 15mm ring spanner and a phillips head screwdriver.
Check out http://www.v6supercharged.com.au and FIT's videos may convince you to extend your reach that little bit extra. Quarter mile times in the 12 second range aren't that far away after all!
If an engine swap sounds hard to you, never fear. There are plenty of people on the forums who will help you at the drop of a hat for the pride of a job well done and a carton of beer.

Hey Guys/gurls.
Im in SA and we arnt allowed to strap on an aftermarket s/charger or turbos.
How is it that the other state are allowed to?
If we (SA) abide by the ADR's what allows you guy/gurls to change emmison rules?
Is there any info via interstate transport websites?
www.rodshop.com.au the kit is $1950 and $400 for the extra small drive pully.Originally Posted by medz84

You have the biggest aftermarket blower retailer in your state CAPA, there would be plenty people in SA fitting blowers. You should check out how its done there, ring em up for 1st hand advice.

u on drugs mate?????? all you need is an engineers certificate.....Originally Posted by clinster73
$4990 for the stage 1 kit? I'd rather drop in the L67 and whack a smaller pulley on it. Can get complete motor + box + ECU + loom all for $4400.
Still, if an engine swap sounds daunting then the raptor SC sounds like a good deal!!

How much FIT mods would you need to make the L67 pull 275 on the tyres?? Prolly another 2K at least to get it up around 15psi etc etc etc even an intercooler maybe. Tuddles has a thread on the other big street commodore forum and he flogged a whole bunch of em with FIT mods on em![]()
No unfortunately its not that easy...Originally Posted by boona15

The reason why i know coz me mate got defected for it after spending $6000 on his set up!
I only know of one CAPA vortech blower that is allowed to be fitted but thats to a Gen111 only.

look here im selling a crs blower crs supercharger for salr
It's actually not that expensive to get an L67 to pull 275 at the tyres... For $860ish you can get 2 different pulleys for it and it will handle up to about 17 pounds before you even touch the internals.Originally Posted by Tradewind
Now the ecotec, however, you'd have to do a LOT of work to it to get it to that, as tuddles has already done with heads ported, bigger TB etc etc, but for a stock motor it would take a lot of money. The stock L67 requires only a smaller pulley and can be intercooled for only about $3k as well. Much better spent than spending $4-5k on rebuilding the ecotec just to handle the amount of boost the L67 has stock.
Not to mention the trans is stronger in the L67 also, so no need to strengthen it, which would cost a couple of grand also.

Sounds all well and good, but if you are pushing 17psi out of an M90 eaton supercharger, that air is going to be superheated. mad. look at the application and compare the two different types of supercharger. the eaton is a positive displacement blower, good for consistent low down power, not much chop up top, especially if you are over spinning it on a big(ish) 3.8L engine. the raptor job is a centrifugal setup with much better efficiency at higher rpm due to the design of the blower. if you strapped an eaton to a N/A ecotec vs. the raptor kit, i know what my money would be on.Originally Posted by shaggerz
my 2 cents.
You are right about that, and if there was no budget limit, the best thing to do would certainly be to rebuild the ecotec and charge that with an intercooled centrifugal blower.
For the money though, I personally will be going with the L67. Estimated cost for L67 conversion with 17 pounds and big sodding intercooler? $4400 for a wreck and $5945 for FIT's ultimate pack. So for a total of $10345 we have the following:
Factory supercharged V6 with...
* Eaton M90 pushing 17 pounds (your choice of 2 pulleys)
* Intercooler + all plumbing
* 3 inch mandrel bent exhaust
* 1.9:1 Rockers
* 81 degree thermostat
* cold air intake
* boost gauge
* heat shield
and a heap of other fun stuff. Theres no need to go to this extreme of course, but all this can be done without even opening the engine, and the total output power? about 270kw at the wheels. To achieve that with an ecotec, you'd spend the same money on rebuilding the motor and purchasing the blower, let alone adding intercooler, etc etc.
Everyone will have their own strategy of course, but thats the logic behind mine. I am willing to spend a bit more money to make sure I have the potential to push the existing configuration further should the need arise.

its all good to go into detail about boosting your ponys but does anyone put any thought into the fact your drive train is not upto the job if it was once a stock v6. its gonna get real expensive with a new box and diff![]()
