Hey all, just couple of quick ones.

My VS Ecotec has an oil leak at the back of the engine (rebuilt 2 years ago :embarrass ) Im 99.9% sure that its the rear main seal but i havent taken anything off to inspect it yet, So my queston is.... Is there anything else that could be leaking oil from there and has anyone changed the rear main them selves so i can get in idea on difficulty and time frame to fix it. I have access to a hoist and a fair amount of knowledge on mechanics.....

leak

Yes the rear crank seal sits in an aluminium cover that also seals both water jackets, the end of the cam shaft and the end of the balance shaft. Usually a deadly place for oil leaks into the cooling system.
You'll see all this when you pull it down. There was a thread showing photos but it seems to be lost.
Could also be a rocker cover gasket dribbling down the back.
Quite a job just to fix an oil leak.

Yeah that's what I have, a small leak at the back of the rocker cover. I thought it was main seal as well.
