Howto Replace Key Reader

Not sure if has happened to any other commodore owner but one of the metal strip were the key makes contact broke off on me the other day, so ive been only able to start the car with the key in a certain way.

I went to holden dealer here and got a new key reader for 7 dollars and they said they would charge 30 bux in labour to do it, so i said ill give it ago.

1st: Lower the steering column and move it out as far as it will go

2nd: Take both the top and bottom plastic cover around the steering column off (undo a few screws etc)

3rd: Pull the key reader off the barrell (it feels like it wont but twist/turn and itll eventually come off)

4th: Unplug the connector off the old Key Reader

yeah just flick it out with the key, when you put the new one on you will see a flat spot on the reader, it lines up with a flat spot up the top.
