Hey All.

Been Hearing a few people talking about stall converters but when ever i ask someone they dont know.

"Stall is the speed at which the converter will hold the engine speed and not allow further gain (i.e., the engine "stalls")."

At what RPM does this happen in a V6?
What ideal Converter would be suitable for a V6?
How Much Do they cost and installed?
and most of all how the hell do they work, and NO not this "the fluid does this and that" I want to know if i had a stall converter at a nice rpm range and a stock v6 next to me what will the difference be when taking off?

Thanks Jecs

VS II S-PAK Manual
not entirely sure but i was told that if u hav a hi-stall converter, ur car doesnt take of untill u reach the specified rpm.

in other words if u hav 3000 hi stall convertor, when ur car is in drive, it wont take off untill the rpms reach 3000.

so i guess its like a fake manual, an auto dropping the clutch at 3000 rpm

to me it makes more sense to just drive a manual

After Talking To A Work Mate This Is What He Told me.

Say theres two cars at the stop lights. one has a 3 grand converter in it and the other is stock. the guy with the converter is able to stall the car up to 3 grand and take off without the revs dropping. The Stock could stall it up to around 1500 and take off and lose some of those revs. Giving the other car a bit of a headstart.

They Sound Alright, Jecs

hi guys....
depending on the quality of the build, the rev limit isnt set in stone, i mean, if a convertor is nice and tight it will be close to what you purchase it at re: 4,500rpm stall......it basically allows the engine to come closer to its peak power or torque and eliminates hinderance by lack of lowdown power. especially handy for turbo cars, allows turbo to spool up so the vehicle can take off and not be affected by excessive lag

hey jecs,
the mini spool is mad mate, i honestly wouldn't recommend it to anyone who wasn't doing any LEGAL racing or burnout activities.....it can be a pain in the bum and yes, tyre wear increases, but the extra amount of wear is up to you.
but i must say, helis and figure 8's are suddenly very easy to do :yeah:

it comes down to torque
a3000 stall may take up at 4000 rpm in a big block
and 2500 in a sb

VR V6 EXEC
Hi Jecs !! Ask About A More Stall. My Vr V6 Has Just Over 200 Hp At The Wheels Or Around 150rwkw And All It Has Is A Bit More Stall In It. But It All Depends On The Set Up Of Your Engine, type Of Cam,etc Its Also Cheaper Than A Hi Stall......
