Auto trans help needed....

Gday there all, Ive got a 97 VS ute the auto is making a shuddering noise under light acceleration, Ive been told the trans has seen better days, so Ive bought a trans that that came out of a VT Commodore , Some body told me today that it wont fit, is this true .
I thought they were all the same.

if its a 4L60E trans i dont see why it wouldnt fit, the vt has almost exactly the same engine and trans combo as a vs (only the smallest difference, mainly in the possitioning of a few parts in the engine bay).

yes it will fit, yes it will work but won't work 100%

why wont it work 100%?..because of the pcm?....thats no biggie, just get it tuned.
