If i shake the steering wheel side to side you can hear a knock/click sound from the rack. Its not the tie rod ends/rack ends as they were just replaced to try n solve this problem. Lower control arm bushes/balljoints/swaybar link bushes have also been replaced. Apparently there is some sort of an adjustment that can be made to the rack to stop this noise?

Any 1 elses car had the same issue???

A question.
Does this knock occur with engine running or not running?
Knock occurs with engine running:
a) Can be piston teflon moving from one side of groove in piston to the other side and being energised at the same time. The teflon seals on the OD and ID and requires clearance on the side of the teflon to allow the pressure of the oil to get under the teflon to force it against the bore. The teflon in that model has two radial grooves on the side and 90degrees away from the grovves on the other side of the teflon. If the grooves are not there the teflon will click as it gets oil under it at the change of direction of the rack.
b) The rack adjuster could be requiring adjustment and this knock will probably be worse off centre rather than on centre thogh if bad enough could occur on centre.
Knock occurs engine not running:
a) Could also be (b) above.
b) Loose coupling causing a click as torque input causes the coupling to move radially on the clamped portion either at steering gear end or column end or a loose steering wheel or even the adjustable column universals.

Can really hear it well when the car is off, havnt sussed it when its on. It is definetly coming from the rack area under the car not inside the car from the colum area.

It could also be loose rack mounts.
