Hey guys need some help

My VS auto seems to get a flat spot around 2k rpm (in several gears) which is more severe when the engine needs to work hard (going up hills etc.). It also has a "popping" noise coming from under the passengers seat when the engine has been running for a while.

Talk to a mate who rekons that after 178000km that it could need a new gear box and maybe a torque converter.

I looked around and found a place in blacktown that will give me a reconditioned one for $1050 installed + $120 for a torque. (same mate rekons he can beat any quote; he knows a bloke who knows a bloke...)

What do you rekon?

Cheers

doesnt have to be a gearbox rpob, cood be faulty leads or plugs etc. run a diagnostics on it and see if a sensor is playing up too.

before you go running out and spend over a grand on a new 'box....
firstly, most stock commodores ive driven have a flat spot when goin up hills and usually drop back a gear to get over 2.5k rpm for more torque....so that doesnt sound that bad what your explaining.
as for the popping, thats a little unusual....all id say is to service your trans and see how it goes.
better to spend $100 for a trans service and fix the problem (if i even is a trans problem) than over a grand for one that could be even worse (i know they say its been reco'ed but you never know)

replace the pan, gaskets and bands (adjusted accordingly), plus obviously new trans fluid.
its like $20 for a 4L60E trans service kit and roughly $60-$80 labour.

when they do a service, ask them if ur gbox is worn and ask for suggestions, ie rebuild or new box or sumin
if its is on way out get a manual conversion :D

Yea I had a look at the leads and one looked a bit dodgy, so i replaced them all and it seems to have fixed the hesitation problem. Havn't heard the popping either so it might have fixed that.

Saved me alot of money guys thanks, i owe you all a drink

Cheers

P.s. is bosch a reputable brand of leads?
