Loosing the plot?

I have a VS with a nurological problem.Or at least thats what it seems like.I have been having a bit of a problem with the key being recognized when first inserted, but with a little patience and the occasional push of the button when incerted in ignition,it soon comes to life.But over the last week,the car has been acting a little strange.on a few occasions, I have started the engine and for a couple of seconds, an indicator light has started flashing.Last night they both started flashing.I could not possibly bump the hazzard switch when starting the engine coz it is in the dash above the cd player.Am I going crazy or is the car:bop:

It would be the key battery or the contacts for the anti theft on the lock.
