g'day all.. i'm having a few troubles with my VS..
firstly, sometimes in the middle of driving the engine just stalls! it can usually be just pulled over onto the side of the road and started again.. sometimes it doesnt quite get to the point of stalling but just has an extreme lack of power and no acceleration ability for a few seconds.. whats going on??
the other problem i'm having is that sometimes, every now and then, i go to start my car (even after it has been drivin for ages, and is warm) and i turn the key to find that it just goes crank crank crank crank crank crank but it just wont fire! it wont start! and then sometime later after fiddling around with whatever is being fiddled around with i'll turn the key and it'll start!
it all happens very randomly... sometimes it'll run perfectly for weeks before having one of its little problems... other times it'll do it twice in a day.. please help.. thanks
sounds to me that it could either be the crank angle sensor, or some very faulty spark plugs/leads!
Have the injector's checked as well have you checked the codes yet.

Wondering if you found what was causing this problem?
As i seem to be having the same one. :b:
hmmm i too is having this problem...
i've been driving along minding my own business and the engine stalls
sometime the engine will kick back in and other times it wont
i have to pull over to the side of the road and try start it again... sometimes it just cranks cranks and cranks no start. but after a while it starts up no probs...
i have checked the engine codes and it comes up codes 12 meaning everything is fine... and i'm like WTF
anyone have anyluck on find out wat it is...
i thought either the crank angle sensor or the O2 sensor ?????
please help i need my car back on the road asap

yea it sounds like crank angel sensor, oxygen sensor wont effect anything except fuel usage if it fails. when u test the codes, wait. it displays each code 3 times
ie. (12,12,12,22,22,22) etc
cheers checked it out came up with code 41 (Electronic Spark Timing Circuit )
WTF????

leads,plugs,cableing,coil pack,
ok this is wat i have done...
checked codes came up with code 41...
cleared codes by removing engine fuse....
codes now cleared
started engine reving between 1600-1800rpm
put jumper on pins 5 and 6 which should decease rpm did it? yes
so there is not fault with the EST...
i checked codes and just came up with code 12
plugs where replaced about 3 weeks ago
so will check leads, cabling and coil packs tomorrow....
anything else i should have a look at while i'm at it

did u start having probs 3wks ago when u replaced leads, or before hand, and also, when you take the fuse out and put back in, rev above 2000 for 10 secs and dont short any pins

Hate to tell you this Munted but that is EXACTALLY what my car did before my ecu died even got the electronic timing circuit fault. Next your CEL will start flashing and your car will surge whilst your driving and while idiling.
it happened ages ago but never longer than a couple of seconds
it did'nt do it for months and now all of a sudden it's like i've gotta stop the car
completely. and try and get the thing started....
cheers fitzy will have a look

run the car for a bit took it for a drive checked codes all i got was code 12
ECU maybe????

not neccesary it could be the crank angel sensor, is there any chance you can goto a mechanic and get it connected to a computer, they can scan all voltages and temperatures base idle etc etc, i got mine done free from a mechanic, so im going back to that mechanic if i need one![]()
well i could but, the mechanic's i goto are both on holidays and i only trust them with my car....

lets hope it's just the crank angle sensor i have a new one ready to put in.
just gotta get the right tools so i can put the new one on

if it's hard to start, you're getting really bad fuel economy, and it's stalling, it's more than likely to be the crank angle sensor. about $200 to fix. although it can be hard to diagnose if you go to a mechanic.
very possible its the ECU.....but i'd first be looking at the fuel side of things first.pump ,injector circuit, etcOriginally Posted by MuNtEd
yeah seem to be having bad fuel eco, so yeah i've broken in down to the CAS, fuel system is fine...
i'm getting the machnic to install the CAS for $50
i brought the part off holden for $96

from your description of your problem,it sounds to me,it's in your fuel circuit, have you tested injector circuit from ECU to injectors? fuel pump....can you hear it when you turn the ignition on?Originally Posted by MuNtEd
people say that the O2 sensor effects your fuel consumption, this is arguable,it's an emission control type device really,in theory why would the O2 sensor be placed on the exhaust for the waste gases, where does the fuel consumption come into it with exhaust waste?the only way this could happen is if raw fuel was escaping.
well cars all fixed, was the crank anlge sensor after all
