its fully closed and the cable isnt broken

My VS does the same thing I cant be bopthered fixing it all I have to do to open the bonnet is to push on the right side of the bonnet while pulling the level and it opens.. Sounds like it might need adjusting..

On the latch it self (the part the spring is located in on, next to the latch that you pull to open) you will see a slit , grab a screw driver and loosen it maybe 1 turn , should be fine ... just loosen and tighten till the bonnet shuts and opens smoothly. should take 2-5min to fix

I think you can get under the front of the car and use a long flat screwdriver to lever back the latch.....that's if your bonnet is locked down. Do a search in the "how to's".

If you cant open the bonnet get someone 2 gently press down while you pull the latch inside the car , should release it.....
