Engine Control Unit.... I guess only manages engine requirements. Fuel/ignition. PCM? Pulse Coded Modulation.. U may be thinking of a BCM Body Control Module, im guessing looks after Engine/Auto Trans/Security/Other keyscan operated items, cruise control, steering wheel mounted controls, central locking?

Just a stab in the dark.

PCM, Powertrain Control Module
BCM, Body Control Module
ECU, Electronic Control Unit, (generic term, ie. "Engine ECU")
ECM, Engine Control Module
TCM, Transmission Control Module
TDM, Theft Deterrent Module

any others will be pretty simple to work out

acctually if it were, you could just press ctrl+alt+del after a crash or just turn it off and on again and it'll be fine.
