Hi Guys
Last night i dragged a VT commodore with pacemaker extractors, exhaust etc. and we were side by side the whole way. I think thats pretty good for a Statesman to keep up with a commo. My car is stock in every way.
I have decided to do mods to the engine. I have $2000 to spend on the mods.
Just wondering on what people suggest i should do? No superchargers or turbos please.
Any suggestions would be great.

id get cam and chip package stage 2 that will give good amount of power, is urs 8 or 6
mite think about getting your heads worked, exhuast, cold air, cams etc,as greatone said
Mods that can hurt the pocket:
Pacemaker extractors with y piece, redback or lukey cat back sports exhust system, cold air intake.
Mods can't really hurt the pocket:
Clean throttle body, remove belmouth
This is what ive done to my Vr accliam and ive had it since stock, runs to much better and im much more happier with it then when i first owned it.

I have never heard of that?? can you tell me what and how to do this to my vt? Cheers
.:Blown VT V6, DAJ37:.
do a search mate :P its a fairly common and easy mod to do, also replace gaskets while you do it, if all else fails goto thr 'Howto section'
Your VT will not have 1, only the 3.8L buick motors from the S2 VN and up have them.
Cheers
TJ
Thanks guys
Its a 6. How much does all that cost the chip, heads, cam and that i would like to buy the exhaust last if possible. And what about the power increase?
Thanks![]()
Im looking at some 1:9:1 Yella Terra Rockers or some FIT 1:9:1 Rockers. They seem to make a big improvement. Do they need to be dyno tuned or have the chip remapped?
Im also looking at a Twin Cat Exhaust System with Pacemaker extractors for $1200
How much of an improvement does a Cam make compared to the Rockers?
Cam will give you a better results than just rockers, but more expensive. If you only have 2000 to spend, i would be looking into cam+tune packages from places like crow cams
So i would get more power out of a cam and tune than i would out of a twin high flow exhaust system and rockers?
Are Crow cams the only ones that make cams for the ecotec?
yeah, a cam grind and tune would be more worth your money.
rockers are alright, i have some 1:8:1 stealth rockers on my ecotec...they're not a big boost of power on their own though, and for what they cost you its hard to justify getting them.
heaps of places do cams for the ecotec, id invest in a C.O.M.E. racing cam and chip package...its about $1k or so (just for parts, account for labour ontop...unless you can do it yourself)
just had another thought...changing your diff ratio to 3.45 would be an idea if off the mark acceleration is your goal.
a cam grind, chip and 3.45 gearing would probably just scrape in at $2k...and it would be a healthy improvement.
i meant get an exhaust as well, most of the tunes that some with these packages will account for a good exhaust and complement it.
Just beware that if you get shorter diff ratios, your top end will suffer, and economy will suffer on the highway
