does anyone know the correct way to line up a new timing chain and gear set on a vr v6.

the 2 dots should go together. that is the crank dot at 12oclock and the cam dot at 6oclock

make sure number one cylinder on t.d.c then align camshaft sprocket (big gear) with dot at bottom(6 o'clock) and crankshaft gear at 12 o'clock (smaller gear) easier to align gears on bench with chain on. have the timing chain tensioner held back and slide in place, check timing chain slack, when timing chain is assembled with the tensioner in position the chain slack shouldn't exceed about 25mm.hope this helps
