VS idle in reverse issues

Hi
Does anybody know what would cause the car to idle badly (stumbles etc) when put into reverse. Doesn't always do it. It's fine in drive but a pig in reverse. Been doing it on and off for ages now.

Stalled yesterday in reverse and then blew the "engine" fuse. Is there anything on that particular circuit that affects idle in reverse.

Or maybe it was just coincidence that it blew that fuse at the same time.

Only thing I can think of is the isolator switch inside the selector - the device that stops you starting the car unless its in P or N....maybe in R it is shorting out...Also check any connectors you can see from underneath the vehicle between the trans and engine. Good Luck.
