had my mechanic find out what was making the rattle in the engine bay, he said it was the timing chain. just curious on what other people think? the rattle only starts when the car is warmed up and then disappears when throttle is applied. any suggestions would be great!

if ti stops when throttle is aplied, that suggests the chain is being tensioned... therefore the chain tensioner is shagged. just replace it... less hassle

I'd get a second opinion first as its a good weekends work to replace the chain and tensioner. It may also be the harmonic balancer making this noise.
